Innovative Living systems category celebrates realised projects integrating living systems (plants, fungi, algae) on or within building envelopes.
Projects submitted in this category include living landscapes or biological systems, including combinations of green roofs, living walls (interior/exterior), green façades, or other creative solutions interfacing with buildings or city infrastructure.
The projects can be nominated by:
- building owners,
- urban planners,
- architects,
- designers,
- landscape architects,
- engineers,
- municipalities,
- organisations, or initiatives.
Projects will be judged on:
- level of innovation,
- complexity of the project
- level of applicability and modularity, as well as potential for replication,
- contribution to flourishment, biodiversity, succession and livability of the living system for the life of the project.
- level of documentation and project details included in submittal (photos or videos, detail drawings, information about cost, implementation, and maintenance).
