As a proud 2024 jury member, I had the privilege of reviewing Green Neighbourhood projects, and I must say, I was both impressed and inspired! These projects are a testament to the power of collaboration—bringing together designers, urban planners, landscapers, horticulturists and local communities, with valuable input from academia.
What stood out to me most was the shared vision of creating cities that are sustainable, resilient, and designed with the well-being of residents at their core. It’s clear that the future of urban development is green, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
Being a juror is an enriching experience that allowed me to dive into the most innovative green infrastructure projects, learn from leading experts, and exchange ideas with fellow jurors. What is even more rewarding is knowing that these outstanding projects will inspire others and drive the green transformation of our cities. University lecturer, architect and urban engineer, WGIN Board Member, CEO
Aslan Jonoubi is an Iranian university lecturer who graduated from the University of Toronto. He has extensive experience in managing complex architecture projects that incorporate plants. Besides his academic work, he has established a renowned Middle Eastern company that focuses on large-scale architectural and urban design projects. As a specialist in green walls and roofs, his conceptual designs of expansive projects with abundant vegetation are highly recognised. Jonoubi also serves as a board member for the World Green Infrastructure Network Association.
Founder of Indian Green Infrastructure Network (IGIN)
Hema Kumar has pioneered the concept of landscape engineering in India. For more than two decades he has been involved in designing and implementing more than 1500 projects.
Managing Director of the Gover Group of Companies
Senthil Nathan is an agriculture graduate with over thirty years of experience in the landscaping industry, having spent most of his career in the United Arab Emirates. He first moved to the Middle East in 1995, when he accepted a position as an agricultural engineer on a landscaping project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In 1997, he relocated to the UAE, where he worked with a leading landscaping contracting company and contributed to several major projects. He is currently the Group Managing Director of the Gover Group of Companies. The Gover Group operates across the horticulture industry, encompassing production, retail, distribution, and contracting services.

Steven has been working to develop the green roof industry in North America and around the world for more than 20 years. He is the Founder and President of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and a Board Member of the World Green Infrastructure Network (WGIN).
Professor, Researcher, President and Founder of PRONATUR, WGIN and EFB Board Member
Professor Dr Julián Briz, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, has been researching and lecturing for over three decades at the Polytechnic University of Madrid with special attention to market research. He has also participated in local policy governance, has published articles and books and supervised PhD theses and research projects. As a researcher, he has participated in national and international projects about green urban infrastructure. He is the founder and president of PRONATUR and plays an active role in promoting sustainable urban development. He serves on the Board of Directors of WGIN and EFB.
Research Fellow, WGIN Board Member, President of WGIN Chapter for Emerging Professionals
Benedict earned his Bachelor's in Environment and Resource Studies from the University for Development Studies (Ghana) and a Master's in Applied Ecology and Biological Safety from Kazan Federal University (Russia). He completed his doctoral studies at The Education University of Hong Kong, researching green roofs, green walls, and nature-based solutions globally, especially in understudied and underserved regions. Beyond academia, Benedict actively advocates for greening cities through leadership roles as a Board Member of the WGIN and President of its Chapter for Emerging Professionals (CEP).
Associate Professor, Speaker, LEED- and GRP-accredited Consultant
Leila Tolderlund is an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen and former Associate Chair in the Landscape Architecture Department at the University of Colorado Denver. Her area of expertise is in urban living systems design – planning and theory, climate adaptation, and public health, and she enjoys critical innovate design thinking for inside-outside transitions. Her main area of focus in both research and practice is green roofs, green walls and living systems. She is a sought-after speaker at national and international green infrastructure conferences. Leila is LEED- and GRP-accredited and practises landscape architecture in her own consulting firm – primarily on projects related to green roofs, living walls, green facades, and climate adaptation.
Architect and building engineer, Chairperson for the Norwegian Association for Green Infrastructure, WGIN Board Member and Secretary
David Brasfield is currently the Chairperson of the Norwegian Association for Green Infrastructure and serves as Board Member and Secretary of the World Green Infrastructure Network. He is an architect and building engineer with expertise in urban planning, sustainability strategies, and policy development. His professional interests focus particularly on the application of green infrastructure in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
