About the category

A significant amount of the “nature” in populated areas is the result of unplanned natural vegetation and species development outside of the scope of human design, engineering and interventions. This award category is recognising the value of unplanned natural vegetation and species development outside human design. This category aims to inspire innovative co-design approaches between humans and nature, acknowledging how spontaneous nature enhances urban ecosystems, adds biophilic quality, and contributes to climate resilience.

Instances of unintended greenery at specific sites or within defined geographical areas are allowed in this category.

The category is open to nominations from any person or legal entity.
